I'm taking my sweet time getting a BA in English Literature because my school doesn't offer anything along the lines of what I would like to do with my life, which is to write. In the meantime, I'm a night manager and cook at a local restaurant, which violates my conscience because it isn't vegan (or even kosher), but I'll do what I have to do to pay the bills until better employment presents itself.

One of my favorite things to do is read. Right now, I'm reading Seamus Heaney's verse translation of Beowulf (bilingual edition) because I can understand both the Old and the Modern English, and it's nice to see them side-by-side for once. I'm also reading Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash because my best friend recommended it. I putter around in my garden during those few brief weeks of the Northwest Texas year when everything isn't dead from extreme heat or extreme coldness. I also consider myself quite the master chef. Ask anyone who's tried my "Chicken of the Argonauts!"

When I do get the chance to watch TV, I prefer educational programs, especially ones about science and nature. I particularly enjoy the early-morning news programs "World News Now" with Jeremy and Vinita on ABC and CBS' "Up to the Minute" with Michelle Gielan. I'm very fascinated by space. I'd love to go to New Mexico to take a VirginGalactic flight into space. I love to travel. I've been all over the United States, and I've toured Great Britain and Ireland. I've also held several offices in my life, including Student Government Vice President at my university and, later, Student Regent at my university, appointed by Governor Perry.

I'm shy around people until I really get to know them, but once I make a friend, I'll be a friend for life. I don't give my heart away easily or lightly, and if you have it, you earned it. I like most kinds of music from classical to rock to hip-hop and even some country. I'm proud to be a Texan and an American, and I'm happy to live in a place where I'm free to love whomever I wish. I only wish someone to love would magically appear.
